Job description

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the patients via face-to-face, telephone, and home visits within The Village Surgery. The provision of services is commensurate with the GMS contract. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance. Working independently to effectively manage caseloads and long-term conditions. Processing referrals, prescription requests, and other associated administrative tasks. Adhere to and maintain best practices recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance. Review and adhere to policies and guidelines. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice. Contribute towards QOF. Attend and contribute effectively to weekly/monthly practice meetings as required. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the practice, including clinical governance and training. Keep your revalidation process up to date. Commit to self-learning and foster an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice. Embrace collaborative working, liaising regularly with all staff.

Main duties of the job:

  • Deliver highly effective medical care via face-to-face, telephone, and home visits.
  • Provide services in line with the GMS contract.
  • Prescribe generically following local and national guidance.
  • Manage caseloads and long-term conditions independently.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as referrals and prescriptions efficiently.
  • Follow clinical guidelines and participate in audits.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Work collaboratively, sharing workload equally.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to QOF.
  • Participate in practice meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with appraisal and revalidation processes.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.
  • Support strategic goals and foster teamwork.

About us:

The Village Surgery, based in South Normanton and Pinxton, serves approximately 9,500 patients across both sites. Our team includes three partners, a nursing team, and administrative staff.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality medical care through various visit types.
  • Adhering to the GMS contract and clinical guidelines.
  • Managing administrative tasks effectively.
  • Participating in audits and quality initiatives.
  • Contributing to team meetings and practice development.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:
  • Member of the GMC Register.
  • Experience in primary and urgent care environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of professional responsibility.
  • Good clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management skills.
  • Experience with QOF and audits.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to provide quality care.
  • Experience dealing with vulnerable patients.
  • Basic IT skills.
Experience:
  • Current GMC registration.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Organizational and IT skills desirable.
  • Experience in primary care and working in GP practices.
