An NHS practice in Kendal is seeking a General Practice Assistant to enhance their clinical and administrative teams. The ideal candidate will have healthcare experience, providing support in patient care and practice management, in a dynamic and collaborative environment. This role requires excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to patient welfare, with a supportive team structure in place for professional development. The position involves various responsibilities from patient interaction to medical record management.
Due to staff changes we are looking for a hardworking andenthusiastic General Practice Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an experiencedHealth Care Assistant and administrator in a GP Practice or similar communitysetting. We offer a stable workingpattern, usually over Monday to Friday.
We are looking for cover across our clinical andadministration team, this will be a new and developing role for our practice.
Interviews will be held on 17th July 2025.
You will work with an established nursing team of our Lead Nurse / ANP and 3 Prescribing Nurses, a Long Term Conditions Practice Nurse a Treatment Room Nurse, an Assistant Practitioner and 2 Health Care Assistants in our modern purpose-built GP Practice and administration team.
You will enjoy working independently as well as part of a team, have good communication skills, want to learn and adapt with changes in the role and be able to work under pressure.Main duties for the clinical role will include phlebotomy, INRs, health checks for patients prior to Long Term Condition reviews, ECGs, infection prevention and assisting GP led contraceptive and minor surgery clinics.The administration part of the role will include, support with medicine management tasks, workflow of medical information, support with the completion of forms and medical record summarisation.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Salary dependant on skills and experience.
Our practice is located in the market town of Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District. We have a patient list size of around 11,500 patients.
Our friendly and motivated team has 5 GP Partners, 3 salaried GPs and an established Nursing Team who are supported by a friendly and efficient Admin Team. We are active participants in the Kendal Primary Care Network with multiple ARRS roles.

Special requirements of the post
The special requirements of the post regarding skills, knowledge and experience are:
General Duties include:
Clinical:
ECGS,
Basic observations, such as BP, Pulse, height and weight etc,
Dip test urine samples,
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs and Nurses,
Cleaning and re-stocking of clinical rooms,
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of Minor Operations and Coil clinics,
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and wellbeing,
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being,
To perform any other tasks, considered appropriate to the role, within the skills of the post holder,
Explain treatment procedures to patients.
