Job summary

Butler Rose North Practice is partnering with an ambitious independent small accountancy practice in Cross Gates, Leeds to recruit a General Practice Accountant. This office-based role offers exposure to a broad client portfolio and the chance to work closely with Directors while mentoring junior colleagues.

You’ll handle statutory and management accounts, tax compliance, VAT work, and client advisory across SME and owner-managed clients, within a supportive team aimed at growing the practice.

Qualifications

• ACA / ACCA qualified, Part Qualified or QBE.
• Experience in UK accountancy practice.
• Experience in accounts preparation and general practice accounting.
• Experience preparing Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• Experience reviewing and supporting junior staff.
• Knowledge of cloud accounting software including Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of SME, owner-managed and limited company clients.
• Preparation and review of statutory accounts.
• Preparation and review of management accounts.
• Corporation Tax compliance and CT returns.
• Preparation and review of Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
• VAT return preparation and review.
• Assist clients with accounting and business queries.
• Primary point of contact for clients and build long-term relationships.
• Mentor and develop trainees and junior accountants.
• Support Directors with practice management and operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Ensure work completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Provide high level client service and commercial advice.
