Job summary

JN Bentley Ltd is seeking enthusiastic General Operatives to join an existing gang on long-term water industry projects around Newport and the wider region. A solid civil engineering and groundworks background is preferred, with a proactive approach to health and safety on site.

You will perform general civils tasks including concreting, deep drainage and pipe laying, contributing to a growing, well‑established civil engineering company with a strong regional presence.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering and groundworks.
• CSCS Touchscreen and Health & Safety Awareness required.
• Plant tickets CPCS/NOCN/NPORs preferred or working towards them.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general civils works including concreting, deep drainage and pipe laying.
• Work as part of an established gang on long-term water projects around Newport and wider region.
• Maintain health and safety standards on site and ensure quality workmanship.

Job description

At JN Bentley Ltd, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated General Operatives to join an existing gang, working on long-term water industry projects based in and around Newport, with work across the wider region.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid background in civil engineering and groundworks to join a well-established and growing business. You will have a proactive approach to work, health, and safety, with experience working within the water industry and carrying out general civil works, including concreting, deep drainage and pipe laying.

Candidate Specification

• Experience within a wide range of Civil Engineering – particularly general civils work, concreting, deep drainage and pipe-laying.
• CSCS Touchscreen & 1 day Health & Safety Awareness course - Minimum requirement
• Ideally holding or working towards your CPCS / NOCN / NPORs Plant Tickets.
• Driving License essential

Advantageous

• Plant tickets for Forward Tipping Dumper & Ride on Roller would be advantageous, but training given if needed.
