Job summary

Altrad are seeking experienced General Operatives to join the team for Outage Works. This role operates on a 13 days on / 1 day off pattern with 12-hour shifts, mobilisation starting 11/09/2026.

The position is paid in line with NAECI; lodge or travel are not paid and only local labour is considered. You will support site trades and supervision, prepare work areas, assist pipefitters and welder teams, move tools and materials, operate stores and forklift equipment where trained, conduct Fire

Qualifications

  • General secondary education or equivalent.
  • Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent site-required safety certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is desirable.
  • Forklift Truck certification is desirable where forklift duties are required.
  • Fire Watch training is desirable where Fire Watch duties are required.
  • Experience working within industrial environments such as oil & gas, petrochemical, thermal power generation or nuclear sectors is desirable.
  • Understanding of permits to work, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

  • Support site trades and supervision teams in the safe and efficient delivery of project activities.
  • Prepare work areas prior to the commencement of engineering activities, ensuring all safety requirements are met.
  • Assist Pipefitters, Welders, Riggers and other trades personnel with day-to-day site activities.
  • Gather, transport and distribute tools, equipment and materials from stores to designated work areas.
  • Operate site stores and maintain effective control of materials, consumables and equipment where required.
  • Carry out housekeeping activities and maintain work areas in a safe, clean and organised condition.
  • Reinstate equipment and work areas to a safe condition following completion of work activities.
  • Operate forklift trucks and associated equipment where authorised and appropriately trained.
  • Carry out Fire Watch duties where required and in accordance with site procedures.
  • Support the set-up, maintenance and dismantling of equipment used within the work scope.
  • Identify hazards, unsafe conditions and non-conformances, taking appropriate action and reporting issues promptly.
  • Work in accordance with permits to work, risk assessments, method statements, POWRA requirements and site safety procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors, engineers, clients, subcontractors and regulatory representatives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and reporting issues, defects and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and housekeeping at all times.
