Job summary

McAllister A Vortex Company is seeking hardworking and reliable General Operatives to join our London-based site teams, supporting drainage, utilities and infrastructure projects.

You will work alongside site supervisors and trades, adhere to health and safety, and help with traffic management and general labouring duties. A valid CSCS Card and Full UK Driving Licence are essential; prior site experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• CSCS card is required for site access.
• Valid full UK driving licence is required.
• Experience on construction, civil engineering or groundwork sites preferred.
• Solid health & safety understanding on site advisable.

Responsibilities

• Assist drainage and utility installation works.
• Support excavation and groundwork activities.
• Load, unload and move materials safely around site.
• Assist plant operators and skilled trades as needed.
• Maintain site cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Follow all health & safety procedures and site rules.
• Assist with temporary works and traffic management.
• Work as part of a team to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Carry out general labouring duties as directed by site management.

The successful candidates will support the delivery of civil engineering, drainage, utilities, and infrastructure projects, working alongside site supervisors, engineers, and groundworks teams on a variety of schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with drainage, and utility installation works
• Supporting excavation and groundwork activities
• Loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment safely around site
• Assisting plant operators and skilled trades where required
• Maintaining site cleanliness
• Following all health & safety procedures and site rules
• Assisting with temporary works, and traffic management activities
• Working as part of a team to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently
• Carrying out general labouring duties as directed by site management

Qualifications

• Valid CSCS Card
• Full UK Driving Licence

Education & Experience

• Previous experience working on construction, civil engineering, utilities, or groundwork projects
• Valid CSCS Card
• Good understanding of health & safety on site
• Confined space certification
• Street works / NRSWA qualification
