Job summary

EsterPET, part of the Biffa Group, seeks a General Manager to take full responsibility for the safe, profitable operation of our Seaham PET recycling site, with occasional travel to Sherburn. You will lead the site management team and own the P&L, planning, and performance targets.

The role requires deep PET recycling knowledge, strong commercial sense, and experience in regulatory and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Significant senior management experience within PET recycling or closely related manufacturing.
• Proven P&L responsibility, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong understanding of PET recycling processes, bale quality, and product conversion.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the safe, compliant and profitable operation of the site, delivering agreed P&L, EBITDA, budget and targets.
• Lead, coach and develop the site management team, creating a culture of ownership and high performance.
• Understand and actively manage key drivers of site profitability including feedstock cost, PRN value, yield, throughput, energy, labour and quality.
• Drive performance across the PET recycling process and ensure robust QA/QMS processes.
• Establish and manage KPIs covering H&S, throughput, mass balance, recovery and financial performance.
• Maintain compliance with Environmental Permits and relevant waste legislation.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Engineering and Quality teams to align operational decisions with business goals.
• Provide clear, timely reporting to the Board and senior leadership with corrective actions.
