A leading recruitment group is seeking a General Manager / Operations Director for a fast-paced transport and storage company in the Midlands. This role involves ensuring operational excellence, financial oversight, and managing a skilled workforce while identifying new business opportunities. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in the transport sector, specifically in SME environments, and a strong grasp of operational efficiency standards.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the operational and commercial success of a fast-paced SME Transport and Storage business. The role is Midlands based, working as part of a UK-wide network, for an organisation that provides dedicated Transport, spot haulage, and palletised distribution for various clients.
Ensuring operational best practices and efficiencies is key to delivering exceptional customer service while running the Transport fleet optimally through effective routing and asset utilisation. In addition to managing operations, you will oversee central functions such as Finance, HR, and Health and Safety. Identifying new business opportunities within existing customer accounts and supporting the sales team with new business development will also be essential.
