Market 36 Recruitment is recruiting a General Manager for an established manufacturing business in Witham. You will work closely with the Managing Director to improve operations, develop the team and support growth.

This role suits someone ready to take ownership and progress from an Operations/Production/ supervisory background. The role involves leading ~20 staff, ensuring production has resources, and driving performance while building strong client relationships.

• Taking responsibility for day-to-day running of the business with MD.

Market 36 Recruitment is currently recruiting for a General Manager to join an established and ambitious manufacturing business based in Witham. The successful candidate will play a central role in the day-to-day management of the company, working closely with the Managing Director to improve operations, develop the team and support the continued growth of the business.

We are seeking a proactive, process-driven and commercially ambitious individual with the energy and determination to take genuine ownership of the operation.

This opportunity could particularly suit an ambitious Operations Manager, Production Manager or experienced Supervisor who is ready to progress into a broader senior management role.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the business while working closely with the Managing Director.
• Overseeing a team of approximately 20 employees, comprising 15 manufacturing employees and five office-based personnel.
• Ensuring production has the materials and resources required to operate efficiently.
• Monitoring operational performance and ensuring work is completed effectively and to the required standards.
• Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing management of employees.
• Managing staff administration and addressing day-to-day personnel matters.
• Overseeing invoicing and associated administrative processes.
• Liaising with customers and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.
• Implementing, maintaining and improving operational processes.
• Identifying potential issues before they affect production, customers or the wider business.
• Recognising opportunities for improvement and implementing practical solutions.
• Taking a proactive and hands-on approach to the management of the operation.
• Contributing to the continued success and growth of the business.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is essential.
• Experience in an Operations, Production, Supervisory or Management position.
• Highly driven, energetic and motivated to make a tangible impact.
• Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of business operations.
• A confident communicator who can build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly organised and process-driven.
• Able to identify issues early and take decisive action to resolve them.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
• A good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong people-management and leadership skills.
• Ambitious and keen to progress as the business continues to grow.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Salary: From £50,000 per annum, with bonus opportunities and scope for progression within the business.
