Job summary

Loungers plc is hiring a full-time Designate General Manager to oversee multiple Lounges in Cumbria. The role focuses on hands-on leadership, team building, and delivering exceptional hospitality.

You will drive operational performance, coach staff, and maintain excellent community relations to ensure every guest leaves happy. You will partner with the Head Chef on food quality and service, manage budgets, and lead a team across shifts.

Qualifications

• Management experience in restaurants, bars, cafes or coffee shops (GM, Bar Manager, Assistant Manager or similar).
• Ability to lead multiple sites and manage teams across shifts.
• Strong understanding of GP, labour, stock and KPI tracking.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of multiple Lounges in Cumbria and lead shifts to ensure high standards.
• Build and develop a strong team with clear development plans.
• Collaborate with Head Chef on food quality, stock, and training across teams.
• Monitor GP, labour, stock, and NPS; use data to drive improvements.
• Lead weekly HOD meetings and keep teams aligned and motivated.

About the General Manager Designate Role

As General Manager Designate you'll lead multiple Lounges. We're looking for a hands-on hospitality General Manager who loves building teams, delivering great hospitality, and running a business like it's their own. What You'll do

• Take ownership of multiple Lounges in Cumbria - leading a variety of shifts, making sure the right people are in the right place and standards never slip
• Build, recruit and develop a strong team, with clear development plans for your team members so people know how to grow with you
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with your Head Chef to stay across everything from food quality and wait times to stock, NSF standards and cross-team training
• Know your numbers inside out - GP, labour, NPS, stock counts and use them to make smart decisions and drive continuous improvement
• Lead weekly HOD meetings, keeping everyone aligned, motivated and pulling in the same direction across all shifts
• Put Loungers at the heart of the local community - through an active social media presence, community events, and building genuine relationships with your regulars and neighbours
• Schedule fair rotas at least two weeks in advance and take the lead on all shift reporting, including performance, customer issues and safety
