Job summary

DSV Brackmills, Northampton is seeking a General Manager for Contract Logistics to lead a site team and deliver high-quality services for customers. You will work with the Senior Management Team to implement site plans, ensure performance standards, and drive financial control and Continuous Improvement.

The role requires strong 3PL experience, P&L oversight, and a passion for excellent customer service, with a focus on warehouse processes and people development.

Qualifications

• Experience in a large multi-user 3PL environment.
• Proven ability to manage profit and loss, budgeting and forecasting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes and procedures.
• Awareness of Warehouse Management Systems.
• Passionate about delivering great customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead site operations and ensure effective management of all operating systems and procedures.
• Maintain buildings and equipment, maximizing value and compliance with safety requirements.
• Direct relationship management with customers, operationally and financially.
• Plan and promote the People Plan to attract talent and support growth, with regular reviews of direct reports.
• Ensure employee engagement is understood and delivered.
• Oversee financial accounts and internal controls, liaising with UK Finance, and monitor overhead budgets.
• Drive the site's Continuous Improvement programs to improve customer and DSV efficiencies.
• Grow the business in collaboration with Business Development according to strategy and targets.

General Manager, Contract Logistics

Brackmills, Northampton

Monday to Friday 9.00am-5.30pm

DSV are looking to recruit a General Manager for our Brackmills location. R eporting to the Director Operations South Region, the General Manager has overall responsibility for leading a team in providing high quality services for all customers within the location. The General Manager is a key member of the Senior Management Team and is responsible (with other members of the Senior Management Team) for implementing the regional/site plans, operational structures and site/customer specific procedures as determined by the Senior Management Team. In addition, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring the site meets performance standards set in the key result areas of the business.

What will you be doing?

• Ensure the site implements effective and efficient management of all operating systems and procedures in line with the Company’s guidelines. Ensuring that the performance of the site in the key result areas ismonitoredand reviewed on an ongoing basis and that remedial action is taken to deal with unsatisfactory results.
• Confirming that all buildings and equipment aremaintainedtomaximisetheir value andcomply withcurrent legal and safety requirements.
• Responsible forthe directrelationships with each customer, both operational and financially.
• Plan and promote DSV’s People Plan, to successfully attract the right talent, to allow continuous growth within the team, building capability at all levels, allowing a future growth plan. Monitoring, on an ongoing basis, the performance of all direct reports, andundertakeregular reviews (appraisals) at all levels,in accordance withthe Company’s procedures.
• Ensurethe employee engagement concept is known and delivered successfully.
• Ensuring the efficient management of the Site’s financial accounts and the implementation of effective financial control procedures in line with Company guidelines,maintainingeffective liaison with the UK Finance Team. The control of all overhead budgets for the Site including employment, fleet, and other overhead costs tomaximiseprofitability in line with the Site’s business plans.
• To steer the sites Continuous Improvement program/s with intention to promote both customer and DSV efficiencies
• To drive new and existingbusiness, in collaboration with Business Development, in line with the company’s strategicobjectivesand targets.
