Job summary

JD Gyms is seeking a General Manager in the United Kingdom to lead the club, drive performance, and create a safe, welcoming environment for colleagues and members. You will coach staff, uphold brand standards, and push for membership growth and strong commercial results.

You will oversee safety checks, daily operations, and customer service excellence while fostering a positive, engaging workplace and acting as an ambassador for the JD Gyms brand.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook.
• Maintain JD Gyms Brand Standards across the club.
• Conduct safety checks daily, weekly, and monthly and report defects.
• Recruit and manage Fitness Coaches and General Assistants for daily operations.
• Hold regular team meetings to drive development and align on goals.
• Work towards and achieve sales and membership targets; maximise secondary spending.
• Ensure gym facilities are cleaned to the highest standard and manage weekly banking to minimise wastage.
• Ensure uniform standards are followed by all staff and yourself.
• Deliver outstanding member service through professional interactions.

Role overview:

As a General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the club. You will create a positive environment for colleagues and members while driving operational excellence, membership growth and commercial success.

Through effective leadership, coaching and collaboration, you will support colleague development, maintain high standards and ensure the club delivers exceptional member experiences in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.
• Recruit and manage a team of employed Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to ensure the club is operational cover to ensure daily expectations are delivered.
• Hold regular team meetings to aid development and keep everyone updated.
• To work towards and aim to achieve all sales and membership targets that are set.
• To drive and maximise secondary spending revenue.
• To ensure the whole of the gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness.
• Ensure the in-house cleaners (General Assistant) are cleaning to the highest standard. To manage the weekly banking process so that wastage and variance is minimal, maximising profit.
• To ensure uniform standards are being adhered to by all team members and yourself.
• Deliver outstanding member service through positive and professional interactions.
• Help create a positive, supportive and engaging working environment for colleagues.
• To always be an ambassador of JD Gyms.
