A leading company in heavy-duty equipment design and manufacturing is seeking a General Manager to oversee sales and service operations in the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong sales background, experience in capital equipment, and proven leadership skills. This role involves managing a substantial budget and developing effective sales strategies while leading a dedicated team.
We are seeking a commercially focused General Manager to advance our sales and service offerings in the UK. The ideal candidate will excel in building customer relationships and mentoring staff. This role is based in the Midlands, with travel across the UK, and requires experience in selling capital equipment and maintenance/service contracts.
BASIC SALARY: £70,000 - £80,000

LOCATION: Field-based role, with required presence in the office as needed. Ideally based within 2 hours of Northampton.

JOB DESCRIPTION: General Manager, Strategic Sales Manager - Industrial, Heavy industrial manufacturing
Reporting directly to the UK Managing Director, you will succeed a retiring General Manager with circa 30 years in the role. You will oversee a business segment with a turnover of approximately £7m, comprising £5m in equipment sales and £2m in service revenue, managing 5 direct and 15 indirect reports across the UK.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The successful candidate will be a sales-oriented leader with a track record in developing accounts and growing teams, ideally within a capital equipment manufacturing environment. Industry experience should include Vehicle Maintenance, Heavy Vehicles, Plant, Truck and Bus, Off Highway, Military, Defence, Tram, or Rail sectors. You should possess the presence and gravitas to lead a sales strategy and manage a sales budget of £5-15 million, with experience in selling alongside service offerings.
