Job Description for General Manager

Are you a dynamic, results-driven leader ready to shape the future of a high-impact manufacturing site? Our client, based in Enniskillen, a leading player in the industrial manufacturing sector, is seeking a General Manager to take full ownership of engineering, production, maintenance, and SHEQ operations at their flagship facility. This is a high-profile, strategic leadership role reporting directly to the Head of Operations.

The General Manager will play a pivotal role in leading cross-functional teams, driving operational excellence, and delivering on ambitious growth and performance targets. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of engineering, automation, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives to elevate site performance to world-class standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that demands both strategic vision and operational grit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability across production lines.
  • Lead automation and digital transformation initiatives to enhance productivity.
  • Manage large-scale capital projects from feasibility through to commissioning.
  • Track and optimise OEE, ensuring high-performance manufacturing.
  • Champion a safety-first culture with rigorous compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Share and embed best practices across the organisation.
Operational Leadership
  • Drive production efficiency, budget adherence, and KPI achievement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., production, logistics, sales) to align output with business goals.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Embed Lean, Six Sigma, and CI methodologies across departments.
  • Oversee capex strategy and execute high-value investment projects.
Financial & Commercial Control
  • Own operational budget planning, cost control, and procurement decisions.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure cost-effective resource utilisation.
People & Culture
  • Inspire, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Cultivate a culture of ownership, agility, and technical excellence across all levels.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline (essential).
  • 5+ years' experience in a senior operations leadership role within heavy industry or large-scale manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing automation, capex, and digitalisation projects.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (preferred).
