Job summary

Safran Helicopter Engines in Fareham, UK is seeking a proactive General Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities & Maintenance team. This hands-on role covers production equipment, buildings, and site infrastructure to keep operations safe, compliant and fully functional.

About the Role

Responsibilities

• -Carry out daily inspections and basic maintenance activities on production machinery and site equipment.
• -Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across the site.
• -Respond to reactive maintenance requests and carry out repairs where appropriate.
• -Perform general building maintenance, including repairs to doors, walls, floors, fixtures, fittings, and basic plumbing systems.
• -Assist with the maintenance of air handling, ventilation, and compressed air systems.
• -Monitor site conditions and identify maintenance issues before they become operational risks.
• -Support contractor management activities, including permits to work, RAMS reviews, inductions, and PPE compliance.
• -Maintain site grounds and support general housekeeping standards across the facility.
• -Ensure maintenance records, documentation, and reports are completed accurately and on time.
• -Promote a safe working environment by following company procedures and escalating issues where required.

Essential

• -Previous experience in a maintenance engineering environment, ideally within a manufacturing or production setting.
• -Multi-skilled maintenance knowledge with exposure to both mechanical and electrical systems.
• -A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to take ownership of maintenance activities.
• -Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders across the site.

Desirable

• -Engineering or maintenance qualification (NVQ, Apprenticeship or equivalent).
• -Experience supporting production machinery, manufacturing equipment, or production lines.
• -Experience in facilities or building maintenance.
• -Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, contractor management, and health & safety procedures.
