You will log tasks on iPads, work safely to high standards and provide reliable updates on progress and timelines.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds in a relevant trade.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge and safe working practices.
• Ability to carry out a variety of fabric and grounds repairs.

Responsibilities

• Drive company standards, values and behaviours; represent City professionally and attend required training.
• Complete minor maintenance and fabric repairs to a high standard.
• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance within agreed timescales with accurate documentation.
• Respond promptly to Helpdesk requests and escalate issues when needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment and materials to ensure tasks can be completed.
• Provide clear support and communication across stores; maintain visit schedules across up to 15 locations.

Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

Location: Dartford / Bexley

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

Salary: £32,628 Total Salary (including 11% LWA) + great company benefits!

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled General Maintenance Technician to join our company to work with one of our major UK supermarket clients.

This mobile role supports multiple stores through planned visits and responsive maintenance. You’ll complete a wide range of building fabric and housekeeping repairs—including fixing floors, walls, doors, toilets, fitting rooms, basic plumbing and other general upkeep—along with carrying out and assisting minor PPMs to ensure each store stays in good working order.

You’ll work closely with store management teams during every planned visit, giving clear updates on progress, next steps, and timelines. A key part of the role is making sure all stores remain safe, compliant, and fully operational, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action to resolve or escalating them.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, takes pride in delivering quality work and knows that great service comes from clear communication and leaving the customer fully satisfied with what’s been done.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive company standards, values and behaviours- Represent City professionally, follow all company policies and attend required training to maintain standards.
• Complete minor maintenance and fabric repairs- Carry out a range of building fabric and housekeeping tasks—such as basic joinery, painting, basic plumbing, minor floor repairs, fixtures and fittings—delivering work safely and to a high standard.
• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance- Complete all planned and reactive tasks within agreed timescales and ensure associated documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Respond promptly to Helpdesk requests- Assess job requirements, complete repairs where possible, and escalating issues outside role scope in a timely manner.
• Maintain tools, equipment and materials - Ensure all necessary equipment is available, safe and in good working order to complete assigned tasks.
• Provide clear support and communication across allocated stores - Maintain a regular planned visit schedule across all allocated stores—up to 15 locations—building strong working relationships, ensuring store teams are fully informed of visit dates, times and progress updates, and communicating clearly with colleagues and management to support effective decision‑making.

Essential

• NVQ/City & Guilds in a relevant trade; multi‑trade experience in FM, retail or public buildings.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Ability to carry out a variety of fabric and grounds repairs, including floors, walls, doors, toilets, fixtures, and general housekeeping tasks.
• Confident using iPads for logging tasks and accessing systems.
• Delivers work to a consistently high standard with attention to detail and pride.
