Job summary

526 South East London & Kent Bus Company Limited in Bromley is seeking a General Hand to help keep our fleet on the road. You’ll substitute vehicles, drive to test centres and carry out simple DIY tasks around the garage, with a focus on keeping buses in top condition.

You’ll need a full PCV licence and be happy to work shift patterns. We offer a competitive benefits package and a supportive team environment across the depot.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full PCV licence and have experience with basic DIY, including painting and minor maintenance.
• Shift work is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Substitute vehicles on the road and take buses to test centres.

• Collaborate with electricians, mechanics and other engineers to ensure vehicles are fit for service.

Salary £18.66 per hour for a 37.5 hour week

We need you!! If you love driving large vehicles, doing a bit of DIY and don’t mind getting your hands dirty but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want to work in a team”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for!

You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around the London Borough of Bromley transporting our fantastic customers. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that.

It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are! You’ll have the responsibility for substituting vehicles on the road, taking buses to test centres, doing odd jobs around the garage and much more.

Our buses include modern double deckers and single deckers as well as some new Electric buses which are now in service with us.

You will need to have a full PCV licence and experience of doing some basic DIY including painting and minor maintenance work. This role will involve doing shift work.

You’ll be supported by a great team of Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.
