Job summary

Stagecoach seeks a skilled technician to maintain and repair the bodywork of a diverse bus fleet at Ash Grove Depot, London. You will work in a team of engineers, with training provided for any new systems, including electric buses, to keep vehicles in peak condition for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Ideal to have Level 3 engineering qualification in heavy vehicles.
• Experience in engineering field involving large vehicles such as trucks, haulage, automotive, plant or buses is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the bodywork of our fleet of buses.
• Repair or replace framework, panels, ramps, doors, upholstery; welding and painting as needed.
• Work with a supportive team including electricians, mechanics and managers to deliver high standards.

We need you!! If you love repairing bodywork on large vehicles but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want to work in a team”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for! You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around East London transporting our fantastic customers across London. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!

You’ll have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing the bodywork our fleet of buses,. Our buses include modern double deckers and single deckers as well as some new Electric buses which are now in service with us. Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. And there’s plenty of variety – repairing or replacing framework, panels, ramps, doors, upholstery and even welding and painting – so if your up for the challenge we need you.

You don’t have to come from a bus background (but we wouldn’t be put off if you did either!), but ideally you will need to have worked in an engineering field involving large vehicles – truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it is large and it moves, it’s good experience for working on buses! It would be desirable for you a Level 3 engineering qualification in heavy vehicles.
