Job summary

St John's C of E Primary School in Midsomer Norton is seeking a General Catering Assistant to help prepare and deliver meals for students and staff across the trust.

You will work as part of a supportive catering team, assist with daily food preparation, and maintain high hygiene and safety standards. Training will be provided, with opportunities for professional development and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in school or casual catering is preferred.
• Familiarity with food safety basics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing sandwiches, baguettes, salads, pre-mixes, and simple cooked items using standard industry techniques and equipment.
• Set up dining areas, manage queue flow, clear trays, wipe tables, and operate till systems for cashless catering and meal authorizations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety by washing crockery, utensils, and machinery, conducting daily temperature checks, and following Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines.
• Load pre-prepared meals into the school catering vehicle and deliver them to local schools when required.
