Job summary

Niyaa People Ltd is seeking a General Builder for reactive repairs across occupied social housing in Andover. You will perform a range of general building and maintenance tasks, handle internal and external repairs, and complete multi-trade work while keeping tenants informed and disruption to a minimum.

The role requires strong general building experience, the ability to work quickly and independently, and a valid UK driving licence.

Job description

General Builder role covering Andover, paying £23 per hour + company van and fuel, with the opportunity to go permanent after 16 weeks on a salary of £36,000-£38,000.

This is a fast-paced reactive repairs role working across occupied social housing properties. You'll need to have strong general building experience and be confident carrying out a variety of building and multi-trade repairs, managing a busy workload and dealing professionally with residents.

As a General Builder, you will be:

• Completing reactive building repairs across occupied social housing properties.
• Carrying out a variety of general building and maintenance works.
• Undertaking repairs to internal and external property features.
• Completing associated multi-trade repairs where required.
• Working across housing association properties.
• Managing a fast-paced workload and responding to changing priorities.
• Working professionally with tenants and minimising disruption.
• Completing jobs safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Keeping work areas clean and tidy.
• Completing relevant job sheets and paperwork.

I’d love to speak to anyone who has:

• Strong general building experience.
• Previous experience working as a General Builder or in a similar maintenance role.
• Social housing experience is preferred, although similar domestic maintenance experience will be considered.
• Experience working in occupied properties.A background in reactive repairs and maintenance.
• The ability to carry out a variety of general building repairs.
• The ability to work quickly and independently.
• A professional and customer-focused approach.
• A full UK driving licence with 6 points or fewer.
• A DBS - if you don't currently have one, this can be arranged.
• Availability to start quickly.

The role is offering:

• £23 per hour
• Company van + fuel
• 40 hours per week
• Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with 1-hour break
• No standard overtime or call-out requirement
• Temp-to-perm opportunity after 16 weeks
• £36,000-£38,000 permanent salary
• Long-term work across established housing association contracts

Based around Andover, covering housing association properties across the surrounding area.
