Responsibilities

• Complete cleaning duties per schedules.

About the role:

As a General Assistant at Portsmouth Naval Base, you’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our facilities and helping us deliver a high standard of service to our customers.

You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team, carrying out a variety of duties across the operation. No two days will necessarily be the same, so this role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, working as part of a team and taking pride in getting the job done to a high standard.

What you’ll do:

• Supporting the team with the day-to-day running of the operation
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
• Restocking shelves and ensuring stores and supplies are kept well stocked
• Checking and receiving deliveries and reporting any discrepancies
• Assisting with the movement and storage of stock
• Following food storage, handling and disposal procedures
• Completing cleaning duties in line with the required cleaning schedules
• Using cleaning equipment, machinery and chemicals safely and correctly
• Following all company, customer and site procedures
• Providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive relationships with customers and colleagues
• Taking care of equipment, stock and other resources
• Reporting accidents, near misses, faulty equipment or other issues to management
• Attending team briefings and training as required
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience in a catering, retail or similar operational environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
• A full clean driving licence
