Job summary

Sanctuary Students is recruiting a General Assistant, also known as a Cleaner, to join the onsite accommodation team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. You will perform daily cleaning of communal areas, void properties, and occupied spaces, including kitchens, lounges and stairs, working with a team of 20 and providing housekeeping and bed making support.

We seek candidates with cleaning or housekeeping experience who can use initiative to deliver high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience.
• Ability to use own initiative to deliver a high-quality cleaning service.
• Experience operating cleaning machinery.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality cleaning services for bedrooms, kitchens, pathways, and communal areas.
• Identify and report hazards and faults to maintain a safe environment.
• Organise stores on site and carry out equipment checks, replacing when necessary.
• Perform other general tasks as required by management.

General Assistant Cleaner

Addenbrookes, Cambridge, CB2 0SQ

£28,993 annum

40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with occasional weekend work available on a voluntary basis.

Temporary position for 12 months

Do you have experience in housekeeping or cleaning different accommodation types? If so, we have the role for you. We’re recruiting a General Assistant, also known as a Cleaner, to join our onsite accommodation team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Daily duties will include cleaning communal areas and void (empty) properties, weekly service cleaning of occupied properties and cleaning communal areas including kitchens, lounges & stairs. Joining a team of 20 you will also provide a housekeeping and bed making function, within on-call, patient, and relative accommodation.

We are looking for someone with experience in cleaning or housekeeping and who can use their own initiative to deliver a high-quality cleaning service.

The role of General Assistant will include:

• Providing high quality cleaning services for bedrooms, kitchens, pathways, and communal areas
• Identifying and reporting any hazards and faults to ensure a safe environment is maintained
• Organising stores on site and carrying out checks of equipment, replacing when necessary
• Any other general tasks as required by management

Skills and experiences:

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience
• Practical experience in operating cleaning machinery
• Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workloads and work on own initiative
• Experience of understanding simple verbal and written instructions and undertaking duties as requested
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
