Job summary

Healthcare Ireland is seeking a General Assistant for Railway Lodge Care Home in Dunmurry. The role blends housekeeping, kitchen and laundry duties to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in a welcoming environment.

You will work as part of the Kitchen and Housekeeping team, reporting to the Housekeeper and Chef, ensuring residents receive quality meals and a clean, safe living space. Training in all three areas is provided and ongoing development is supported.

Qualifications

• Numerate and literate with a good standard of English
• The Right to Work in the UK
• Basic knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety, Fire and Security Regulations
• Previous experience in a relevant role

• Identify and report faults or issues to maintenance or management

The Role

The General Assistant role at Healthcare Ireland is a blended role, working with the Housekeeping and Kitchen team to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Home.

The General Assistants in our Homes play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, housekeeping and laundry functions, ensuring that residents receive high-quality meals and have a clean environment. The role is essential in the wellbeing of our residents through the provision of high-quality, person-centred surroundings.

Working as part of the Kitchen and Housekeeping team, reporting to the Housekeeper and Chef, the role is about a lot more than preparing and serving meals and cleaning – the General Assistant will support with ensuring the dietary needs of our residents are met in addition to contributing to a clean and tidy environment for our residents.

About the role

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure the expected standards are achieved throughout the home

• Cover domestic, kitchen and laundry duties – training in all 3 areas provided

• Identify and report any damage, faults or other issues to maintenance or management

• Adhere to the cleaning and auditing schedule

• Use and store cleaning products in accordance to COSHH regulations

• Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager.
