Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Manchester seeks a Gearbox Test Engineer to lead development, validation and reliability testing of F1 transmission systems in a factory setting. You will drive dyno testing, rig development and data-driven analysis to ensure gearbox performance meets the extreme demands of Formula 1 competition.

Collaborate with design and simulation teams to validate new concepts, investigate failures and push performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical/automotive engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in mechanical testing in motorsport, automotive, or aerospace.
• Solid knowledge of gear systems, tribology and lubrication.
• Experience with test rigs, instrumentation (torque, speed, strain, temp).

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and execute gearbox dyno tests and endurance tests.
• Analyze test data and correlate with simulation models and historical data.
• Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and improve test rigs and data acquisition processes.
• Collaborate with design and simulation teams to validate concepts.
