Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Gearbox Test Engineer to lead development, validation, and reliability testing of Formula 1 transmission systems in a factory setting.

You will run dyno tests, build rigs, analyze data, and collaborate with design and simulation teams to push performance while maintaining safety and quality.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration in a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in mechanical testing with motorsport, automotive, or aerospace exposure.
• Strong understanding of gear systems, tribology, fatigue, and material behavior.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and execute test programs for gearbox systems, including dyno testing and endurance trials.
• Define procedures, instrumentation, and acceptance criteria for test rigs.
• Analyze test data and correlate with simulations to drive design improvements.
• Lead root cause analysis of gearbox failures and support corrective actions.
• Support development and commissioning of new test rigs and automation.
