Job summary

NextGen Teachers is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Crawley, helping students with SEN and SEMH access the GCSE curriculum and reach their potential.

You will work alongside teachers to tailor support to individual needs, foster participation and positive learning behaviours, and contribute to a calm, inclusive classroom throughout the school day (8:15am–3:00pm), with weekday hours and competitive daily pay.

Qualifications

• Essential experience supporting secondary-aged students or working with the GCSE curriculum.
• A GCSE in Maths, English or Science, or an equivalent qualification.
• Confidence supporting students who may need additional academic, emotional or behavioural support.
• A patient, proactive and reliable approach, with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEN and SEMH needs within mainstream secondary classrooms.
• Help students engage with lessons, understand tasks and access the secondary curriculum.
• Provide targeted learning support, adapting your approach to meet individual student needs.
• Work alongside teachers to encourage participation, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
