Job summary

York College invites applications for Head of GCSE to lead GCSE and Level 2 English and Mathematics delivery across the college. You will drive high standards in teaching, learning and assessment, and work with Curriculum Managers and support services to secure excellent learner outcomes.

You will oversee examination planning, quality assurance, performance monitoring and intervention strategies, ensuring compliance with funding requirements while developing innovative attendance and progression

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification and degree-level qualification.
• Substantial experience of teaching and leading English, Mathematics or a closely related curriculum area.
• Strong understanding of GCSE and Level 2 delivery, quality assurance, performance management and curriculum improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of GCSE and Level 2 English and Mathematics across the college.
• Oversee quality assurance, examination planning, performance monitoring and intervention strategies.
• Drive attendance, achievement, progress and learner engagement through evidence-informed practice.
• Lead a team of curriculum coordinators and support colleagues across the college.
• Contribute to wider strategic priorities and continuous improvement as part of College Leadership Team.
