Job summary

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English at GCSE level.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English is highly desirable.
• Strong subject knowledge and ability to engage learners of varying abilities.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Strong communication, organisation and planning skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to process a new application.

Responsibilities

• Teach GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English to post-16 learners.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons.
• Assess, monitor and record learner progress with constructive feedback.
• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans tailored to learner needs.
• Support learners through examinations and assessments.
• Create a positive learning environment to promote engagement, attendance and achievement.
• Differentiate teaching strategies to meet diverse abilities.
• Collaborate with curriculum leaders to support curriculum development.
