Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher for a college in Consett to support GCSE Maths and Functional Skills learners. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing progress and providing feedback to help students achieve their goals.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS or PGCE, have GCSE Maths teaching experience, and be committed to safeguarding and high educational standards. This is a full-time temporary position starting 2 November in Consett.

Qualifications

• QTS, PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Maths at GCSE level.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths is highly desirable.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on Update Service or willingness to process a new application.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Professional teaching references covering the last two years.

Responsibilities

• Teach GCSE Maths and Functional Skills Maths to post-16 learners.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons.
• Assess, monitor and record learner progress with constructive feedback.
• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans tailored to learners’ needs.
• Support learners through examinations and assessments.
• Create a positive learning environment promoting engagement and achievement.
• Differentiate teaching to meet diverse abilities.
• Collaborate with curriculum leaders and colleagues to support quality improvement.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
