Job summary

Insight International (UK) Ltd in Manchester is seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer to build and evolve secure cloud platforms. You will own Kubernetes platforms (GKE/OpenShift), automate infrastructure with Terraform, and implement CI/CD pipelines using Harness and Jenkins while embedding security and governance.

The role focuses on observability with Dynatrace, running multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments, and delivering self-service platform capabilities via Backstage.

Qualifications

Job description

Build and evolve secure, resilient cloud platforms and delivery capabilities that enable engineering teams to release software faster, safely, and consistently. This is a hands-on role covering Kubernetes engineering, infrastructure automation, continuous delivery, observability, and platform controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate enterprise Kubernetes platforms using GKE and OpenShift.
• Create reusable platform services and developer self-service capabilities using Backstage and Internal Developer Platform patterns.
• Build secure cloud environments using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Harness and Jenkins.
• Implement observability solutions using Dynatrace, including metrics, logs, traces, dashboards and alerting.
• Define SLI/SLO measures and automate operational runbooks.
• Manage secrets, certificates and workload identity using HashiCorp Vault.
• Embed security, resilience and governance controls into engineering practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, security and operations teams while promoting platform engineering standards.
• OpenShift experience (mandatory).
• Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
• Hands-on experience with Harness CI/CD and Jenkins.
• Backstage and Internal Developer Platform concepts.
• Dynatrace monitoring and observability.
• HashiCorp Vault and certificate management.
• Istio Service Mesh and networking concepts.
• GitHub/Git, automation, scripting, troubleshooting and production support.
