Job summary

DPD is seeking a reliable Gatehouse Operative to join our UK security team. Based at the East Midlands hub, you will ensure only authorised vehicles enter and leave the site, perform vehicle and seal checks, and support day-to-day security operations.

The role offers permanent 40.25 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off pattern, with shifts from 06:00 to 18:00. You will communicate with other departments, coordinate with contractors, and liaise with emergency services as part of a committed, inclusive

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical to succeed in this role.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for daily interactions with staff, drivers and visitors.
• Professional appearance and attitude at times.

Responsibilities

• Communicate vehicle movements to other departments.
• Perform physical checks of vehicle details and seals.

Job Description

Our Hub Security Managerin the East Midlands islooking to recruit reliable and dedicatedGatehouse Operative.

Effective Gatehouse operations play a vital role within the UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Key Duties and Accountabilities will include

Ensuring that only authorised vehicles (DPD, Subcontractors and delivery vehicles) are given access and egress to the site

Communicating to other departments within the business with reference to vehicle movements

Physical checks of vehicle details and seals

Ensuring that all reported empty trailers arriving & departing are physically checked.

Ensuring that trailer locking systems are working effectively

Working as part of a team to deliver excellent gatehouse security and customer service.

Coordinating activities between contractors, employees and visitors.

Liaising with emergency services and other third-party organisations.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in a similar position would be advantageous but full training will be provided.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical to succeed in this role as are excellent interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with, staff, international drivers and visitors on a daily basis. You will be someone with a responsible and trustworthy attitude who takes pride in your day to day work

The ability to use initiative and follow procedures and guidelines

A professional appearance and attitude at times

Flexibility towards working hours as working hours are varied to fit in with the current shift roster
