Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Gate and Barrier Engineer to join their thriving and expanding team.

The Role:

As a Gate Engineer, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and servicing, completing upgrades and small installation works, and fitting replacement equipment across a range of automated gate and entry systems.

The role is varied and hands‑on, with some groundworks involved, including installing induction loops and posts, trenching for cables and other associated installation tasks.

You will be working at customer sites, with most locations within approximately one hour's drive of the company's base, keeping travel to a sensible minimum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on automated gates and access control systems.
• Servicing and maintaining automated gates, barriers and entry systems.
• Fault‑finding and repairing intercoms, GSM systems and associated equipment.
• Completing upgrades, small works and replacement equipment installations.
• Carrying out minor groundworks, including installing loops, posts and cable trenching.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.
• Providing excellent customer service and representing the company professionally on site.

The Ideal Candidate

Our client is looking for a reliable, punctual and trustworthy engineer with a good working knowledge of the automated gate industry.

You will ideally have experience in fault-finding, servicing and repairing automated gates, barriers and associated access control equipment. A proactive approach, strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.

A full, valid driving licence is essential.
