Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust invites applications for a Specialist in Gastroenterology to join an established team of gastroenterologists and nurses delivering high-quality care across Shropshire, Wrekin and Mid Wales. The role involves inpatient and outpatient duties, as well as participation in endoscopy lists.

Prospective applicants should have GMC registration and a substantial track record in gastroenterology, with opportunities for teaching, research and service

Qualifications

• MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
• MRCP or equivalent.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent.
• PhD, MD, or evidence of higher education qualification.

Responsibilities

• To provide specialist care for Gastroenterology/Hepatology patients in-patients, on referrals, day units, clinics and endoscopy lists.
• To maintain endoscopy and clinic waits to meet national and local targets.
• Maintain the highest standards in care of Gastroenterology patients.
• Share responsibility for day-to-day management of Gastroenterology with colleagues.
• Teach and train junior staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals.
• Develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in acutely ill patients.
• Demonstrate excellent team-working in a multi-professional setting.
• Deliver clinical and quality targets agreed with clinical teams and commissioners.
• Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.
