Job summary

National Gas in the United Kingdom is looking for a Gas Quality Technician to help keep the Bacton Gas Terminal operating safely and compliantly. You will monitor gas quality systems, carry out maintenance, and support cyber upgrades to ensure continuous regulatory compliance and reliable performance.

The role is site-based, five days a week, with a requirement to be based within reasonable travelling distance of Bacton and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship, recognised training scheme, or equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as mechanical, gas, instrumentation, chemical engineering, or other related engineering discipline
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience working within an engineering, industrial, utilities, or process environment
• Ability to interpret technical information and analyse data
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and maintain compliance standards
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Resolve gas composition queries and support the accurate operation of gas quality systems
• Diagnose and rectify faults across gas analysers and associated equipment
• Deliver planned maintenance to maximise system availability and reliability
• Review condition monitoring information and implement preventative maintenance activities
• Manage access controls, passwords, and network configurations in line with cyber security requirements
• Support audits, compliance activities, and the ongoing improvement of maintenance procedures
• Collaborate with operational, engineering, and cyber teams to support system upgrades and asset performance
