Job summary

Sigma are seeking a Gas Engineer to join our Building Services team. This hands-on role covers maintenance, installation and commissioning of commercial gas and heating systems across various properties nationwide. Regular site travel is expected, with a focus on safety, quality and customer service.

You will work with clients and site teams to deliver high standards of workmanship, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate documentation for all activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Gas Engineer within commercial environments.
• Experience carrying out commercial gas servicing, maintenance, installation and commissioning.
• Good understanding of commercial heating and plumbing systems.
• Knowledge of current gas regulations, compliance requirements and industry best practice.
• Understanding of construction and maintenance health and safety requirements.
• Experience working in customer-facing environments and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Experience managing workloads effectively across multiple sites and projects.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
• Current Commercial Gas Qualifications (ACS).
• COCN1 Core Commercial Gas Safety.
• Relevant commercial gas appliance qualifications (e.g. CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A or equivalent).
• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating, Gas Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and reactive repairs on commercial gas and heating systems.
• Undertake installation, replacement and commissioning of commercial gas, heating and plumbing systems.
• Diagnose faults and provide effective repair solutions to minimise downtime.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry regulations, health and safety requirements and company procedures.
• Complete all required job sheets, service records and compliance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and site personnel throughout works.
• Identify and report defects, non-compliances and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure work areas are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and safety.
• Adhere to permit-to-work systems and site-specific procedures where required.
• Support wider Building Services activities as required and contribute to successful project delivery.

Outline of role

As a Gas Engineer within our Building Services team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality gas, heating and plumbing maintenance, installation and repair services across a variety of commercial properties nationwide. You will work closely with clients, site teams and internal colleagues to ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard. This is a hands‑on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys problem‑solving, takes pride in their work and is committed to delivering excellent customer service. Regular travel to customer sites will be required.

Main Responsibilities
