Harbour Healthcare is recruiting for a Gardener in Woolton, Liverpool. Your role will include ensuring all legal documents are completed, carrying out day-to-day maintenance on the fabric of the building, its services, and grounds to ensure the Care Centre is maintained in a safe and efficient condition. You will also be required to be on call for emergencies.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Required:
- General maintenance knowledge/experience (e.g., minor electrical, plumbing, joinery)
- Confident team player
- Use of a car or similar vehicle
- Willingness to receive training on current Health & Safety / EHO issues
- Satisfactory police check and check against the POVA list (if applicable)
Main Responsibilities
General Maintenance:
- Assist in assessing the effectiveness of maintenance implementation and delivery
- Operate grass cutters and other machinery
- Implement actions to meet and maintain maintenance standards
- Resolve day-to-day issues systematically
- Protect residents’ rights
- Perform routine maintenance such as litter collection and sweeping
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of individuals supported
- Ensure all legal documentation is completed on time
- Report and address defects or hazards to the Home Manager
- Maintain the exterior of the Care Centre
- Keep sheds, outbuildings, and waste areas tidy
- Clear snow and grit driveways and paths
- Test and record water temperatures as per procedures
- Maintain a Maintenance Book for recording defects and repairs
- Keep gardens, flower beds, and hanging baskets well-maintained
- Clean external signs and lighting
- Carry out decoration touch-ups as needed
Communication:
- Liaise with the Home Manager or delegated staff regarding maintenance tasks
- Participate in staff and client meetings as required
Training & Development:
- Attend mandatory training sessions
- Maintain professional knowledge and competence
Health & Safety:
- Use and store paints and varnishes safely, following manufacturer instructions
- Ensure work areas are ventilated and safe during painting/varnishing
- Report any illnesses or accidents immediately
- Implement the Care Centre’s health and safety policies and emergency procedures
- Promote safe working practices
