Your role:

As a Craft Gardener you will play a key role in delivering a high standard grounds maintenance service across the borough. You will support the Team Leader with the effective delivery of day-to-day grounds and general horticultural maintenance operation.

You will assist the Team Leader in work planning and will cover this role in their absence. You will provide exceptional customer service, be adept at dealing with a range of customers, and be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Council when working in the borough.

You will lead by example and motivate others to work to collective goals and actively seek ways to improve the service, suggesting new ways of

working and embracing change.

About you:

You will have knowledge and experience in an operational ground’s maintenance/parks organisation or similar environment, with the ability to operate a full range of plant and machinery relevant to the role.

You will have an amenity horticulture, greenkeeping, groundsman or arboriculture qualification, such as City and Guilds 3 or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or be able to demonstrate this through knowledge and experience.

Herbicide Application qualification PA1, PA2 & PA6AW or be able to demonstrate this through knowledge and experience. Relevant Health & Safety knowledge and experience in relation to the role.

You will be able to work well both independently and as part of a team in a flexible manner in order to meet deadlines and service demands. It is also important that you have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with both colleagues and members of the public. You must also be able to apply health and safety knowledge within the workplace and be well organised.
