Job summary

HR GO Recruitment is partnering with a local grounds maintenance client to recruit a Seasonal Gardener in Folkestone. You will help maintain parks, cemeteries, highways and open spaces to high horticultural standards, including Green Flag Award standards.

A full UK driving licence and a standard DBS check are required. The role is temporary (April to September) with 37 hours per week, and there is potential to become permanent; full training and PPE are provided.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Standard DBS check will be carried out.
  • Experience or strong interest in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or gardening.
  • Ability to learn to operate machinery and specialist equipment safely.
  • Reliable, flexible and able to work across the district.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow procedures and complete paperwork.
  • Commitment to training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain grassed areas, hedges, herbaceous borders, flower beds, and other landscaped spaces.
  • Operate and maintain machinery and equipment safely (training provided).
  • Carry out site preparation, landscaping and general gardening tasks.
  • Complete paperwork and adhere to council procedures.
  • Lock buildings and set alarms where necessary.
  • Work independently or as part of a team across multiple sites.
  • Ensure work is completed safely to a high standard and in line with legislation.
  • Be flexible to work wherever required within the section.

Agriculture Fishing and Forestry Folkestone, Kent £13.91 per hour Temporary

Location: Various sites within Folkestone & Hythe District

Contract: Temporary - End of October) | Full-time (potential to become permanent)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon - Thurs: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Friday: 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Salary: £13.91 per hour.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Seasonal Gardener to join our client's Grounds Maintenance team.

You will help maintain parks, open spaces, cemeteries, highways, sports facilities, housing areas, and flower displays to the highest horticultural standards - including Green Flag Award standards.

The ideal candidate will have a full driving licence and some experience in grounds maintenance tasks such as hedge trimming, mowing, and litter picking. You must be reliable, flexible, a standard DBS check will be carried out. Previous employment & character references must be supplied on request.

Full availability during the busy season (April to September) is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain grassed areas, hedges, herbaceous borders, flower beds, wildflower areas, shrubs, and rose beds
  • Operate and maintain machinery and specialist equipment safely (training provided)
  • Carry out site preparation, landscaping, and general gardening tasks
  • Complete paperwork and adhere to Council procedures
  • Lock buildings and set alarms where necessary
  • Work independently or as part of a team across multiple sites
  • Ensure work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in line with legislation.
  • To be fully flexible to work wherever required within the scope of the section.
  • To ensure vehicles and plant are regularly checked, maintained and used correctly reporting any defects to the team leader or workshop
