Job summary

Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa is seeking a dedicated Gardener to maintain the grounds, carparks and driveways to a high standard. The role is full-time, year-round, with a fixed 8.00am–4.30pm schedule across five days including Saturdays.

You will work with a small team, reporting to the Maintenance Manager, performing mowing, hedge trimming, seasonal planting, and general grounds care. Benefits include annual leave rising with service, bank holidays, free parking, uniform, and hotel/spa

Qualifications

• Fitness and stamina required for outside working throughout the year.
• Methodical and well managed working methods to ensure all priority areas are maintained and well-presented throughout the week.
• Own transport to and from work and to collect odd supplies (mileage paid).
• Must have a courteous and friendly manner as working in guest areas.

Responsibilities

• Using the petrol sit on and handheld lawn mowers to keep all lawned areas tidy and presentable.
• Ensure lawn edges are trimmed and well maintained.
• Arrange treatment of the lawns in the spring and autumn.
• Hedge trimming, leaf clearance, border weeding.
• Use the petrol strimmer and hedge cutter to keep shrubs and woodland areas tidy and well managed.
• Do seasonal planting in pots and the borders at the entrance to the hotels main building.
• Maintain garden furniture and store for winter months.
• Dispose of all garden refuse safely.
• Ensuring gravel driveway is well maintained and raked to ensure presentation for arriving guests.
• Do minor pruning of trees and clear fallen trees. Major works are carried out by our tree surgeon.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are well maintained.

The Role

A full time permanent vacancy offer all year round employment.

Part of a team of 2 Gardeners reporting to our onsite Maintenance Manager

Working 8.00am – 4.30pm, 5 days per week including Saturdays.
