Job summary

Halmer Recruit is seeking an experienced Mobile Garden Maintenance Team Leader to manage a mobile team across London and the Home Counties. The role carries a competitive salary and a company van for work use, with an established landscaping company supporting career progression.

Based within the M25, you will oversee high-end private gardens, roof terraces and country estates while delivering exceptional horticultural standards and customer service.

Qualifications

  • 3 years' professional gardening experience
  • 2+ years leading a garden maintenance team
  • Experience maintaining high-end private gardens
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential
  • Able to travel across London and attend interview/training at Leighton Buzzard office

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a garden maintenance team across prestigious sites
  • Maintain high-end private gardens, roof terraces and country estates
  • Carrying out lawn care, hedge cutting, pruning, planting, weeding and seasonal maintenance
  • Diagnose plant health issues and apply treatments
  • Maintain and monitor irrigation systems
  • Build strong client relationships and deliver excellent customer service
  • Organise daily workloads and ensure timely completion
  • Travel between sites across London and surrounding areas
  • Ensure work complies with Health and Safety regulations and company procedures
  • Mentor and develop junior team members

Job description

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mobile Garden Maintenance Team Leader to join an established and award-winning landscaping company maintaining some of the most prestigious private gardens across London and the Home Counties.

This is a mobile role covering sites throughout North, South, East and West London. Applicants must be based within the M25 and comfortable travelling across London as part of their working day.

The successful candidate must also be able to attend an interview at the company's office in Leighton Buzzard and travel to the office for initial training when they start.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of £35,000-£41,000 per annum, depending on experience, together with a company van for work use.

This role is equivalent to a traditional Garden Maintenance Foreman position and is ideal for someone with previous experience leading a horticultural maintenance team who is looking to progress their career.

Working across an impressive portfolio of private gardens, contemporary roof terraces, country estates and high-profile landscape projects, you will lead a small maintenance team while ensuring exceptional horticultural standards and outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a garden maintenance team across a variety of prestigious sites
  • Maintain high-end private gardens, roof terraces, courtyards and country estates
  • Carry out lawn care, hedge cutting, pruning, planting, weeding and seasonal horticultural maintenance
  • Diagnose plant health issues, pests and diseases and implement appropriate treatments
  • Maintain and monitor irrigation systems
  • Build strong relationships with clients and deliver exceptional customer service
  • Organise daily workloads and ensure work is completed efficiently
  • Travel between sites throughout North, South, East and West London
  • Ensure all work complies with Health and Safety legislation and company procedures
  • Operate and maintain a range of horticultural machinery and equipment
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the team
  • Maintain company vehicles, machinery and tools to a high standard
  • Ensure every garden is maintained to the highest possible standard
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years' professional gardening experience
  • At least 2 years' experience leading a garden maintenance team as a Team Leader, Foreman or Supervisor
  • Experience maintaining high-end private gardens
  • Strong horticultural knowledge and excellent plant identification skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to motivate and manage a small team
  • PA1 and PA6 certificates are desirable
  • RHS Level 3 qualification or equivalent is desirable
  • Experience operating a wide range of horticultural machinery
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential
  • Comfortable driving a company van throughout London
  • Must be based within the M25
  • Must be able to attend an interview and initial training at the company's Leighton Buzzard office
