Job summary

Tate Commerce is seeking two Retail Assistants for Tate Modern and Tate Britain. One permanent and one fixed-term contract until 3 January 2027, both 28 hours per week. The role pays £14.80 per hour and requires weekend work and some additional weekdays.

You’ll deliver a world-class shopping experience, handle till cash, manage stock, and engage with a diverse audience in a busy gallery environment. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Experience of delivering a high-quality customer experience in a retail environment.
• Ability to work weekends and additional weekdays as required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible, proactive and adaptable to changing circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a world-class shopping experience on the shop floor, including replenishment, cash handling, housekeeping and teamwork.
• Provide exceptional customer service by building rapport and responding to customer needs.
• Manage stock including unloading deliveries, maintaining displays and stock counts.
• Process a wide variety of transactions from everyday items to limited editions.
• Be proactive and flexible in a dynamic environment and work as part of a team.
• Engage with a diverse audience and learn about products and processes to support the team.
• Maintain high retail standards and confidently handle till money.
• Support evening and early morning events as required.
