Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a trainee respiratory clinician within the Mid Dorset Primary Care Network. The role is one day a week to start, focusing on helping patients with complex long-term respiratory conditions, identifying those at risk of flare-ups, and referring them to services such as pulmonary rehabilitation.

• Clinical decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients with respiratory conditions using clinical judgement.
• Identify patients at risk of flare-ups or admission and refer to pulmonary rehabilitation and smoking cessation services.
• Perform specialist procedures such as spirometry and maintain competence.
• Manage full episodes of care and follow-up, delegating and referring as appropriate.
• Interpret investigations and plan appropriate management.
• Promote health prevention and assess risk factors.
• Prescribe as an independent prescriber where qualified.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case presentations.
• Contribute to audit, quality improvement and education under PCN leads.
• Prioritise workload and act to protect patient care.
