We have an exciting opportunity to join our End of Life services team as a Funeral Service Operative.
You will work on a casual basis (bank working) as needed, with shifts scheduled Monday to Friday and out-of-hours on an on-call rota.
Your role involves delivering compassionate end-of-life care, supporting families, and ensuring the smooth delivery of funerals, including collection, transportation, preparation of the deceased, and acting as a conductor or bearer during services. It is a physically and emotionally demanding role requiring empathy, resilience, and a compassionate approach.
We seek individuals passionate about helping others and building relationships. No prior funeral industry experience is necessary; we will provide full training and support your career development.
Requirements: A full, clean UK driving license for both manual and automatic vehicles. For vehicle insurance purposes, applicants must be over 25.
Benefits include a 20% store discount, share incentive plan, and opportunities for skill development through apprenticeships and in-house training.
We are an independent Co-op operating across southern England, managing convenience stores, funeral homes, crematoria, burial grounds, and a Starbucks franchise. Owned by our members, with over 4,000 colleagues, we are committed to sustainability and community service. Join us to be part of a family dedicated to serving local communities and putting people first.
Note: Successful applicants will be required to undergo a DBS check to comply with NAFD Funeral Director standards.
Apply promptly, as high application volumes may lead to early closure of the advert.
