Main Function of the Role:

We are seeking a Funds Tax Assistant Manager to service internal and external stakeholders across private equity and infrastructure funds. The role involves managing all fund activities, including investment SPVs, Funds, and Carried Interest Partnerships.

The tax team collaborates closely with funds finance, investment, legal teams, and external tax advisors. Responsibilities include overseeing tax compliance and participating in advisory and structuring projects.

The ideal candidate is a recently qualified tax professional eager to develop under the supervision of an experienced Funds Tax Associate Director with expertise in US and UK tax.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with tax compliance processes for partnership tax, corporate tax for SPVs, FATCA, CRS, DAC 6 across relevant jurisdictions, ensuring timely review, finalization, and filing of tax returns.
  • Maintain relationships with tax compliance and advisory service providers.
  • Streamline workflows to ensure outsourced work is completed within budget.
  • Coordinate with finance, administrators, and advisors to keep compliance calendars on track, raising issues promptly.
  • Review compliance work for accuracy and quality.
  • Manage tax mailbox and respond to stakeholder queries efficiently.
  • Support budget, workflow, and process oversight through trackers and manuals.
  • Assist with US withholding tax processes and liaise with stakeholders for tax reclaims.
  • Participate in tax reviews of investments and divestments, and support internal projects with external experts as needed.
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies using technology.
  • Handle correspondence with tax authorities like HMRC and IRS.
  • Stay updated on relevant tax developments and implement necessary changes.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Professional accounting or tax qualification (e.g., ACA, CPA, CTA) with 2+ years PQE preferred.
  • At least 3+ years of professional experience, with 2+ years in a funds tax role, focusing on tax compliance.

Experience Required:

  • International tax experience, especially US taxation, is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong IT skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
