The Zimbabwe Educational Trust

The Zimbabwe Educational Trust (ZET) is a small but ambitious UK charity working to improve access to education and promote sustainable livelihoods in Zimbabwe. ZET's approach targets both internal and external barriers to education for Zimbabwean children.

Using a 'dual focus' strategy, ZET aims to enhance educational infrastructure in Zimbabwe while uplifting the socio-economic well-being of children and youth beyond the classroom. Our projects include securing birth registration documents, vocational training for vulnerable young women, sexual and reproductive health education, and more.

The Role

ZET seeks a proactive, highly organized individual passionate about international development, with skills in fundraising and communications, to join our small team. You will support the charity in three main areas: Fundraising, Operations & Administration, and Marketing & Communications. A key focus will be submitting grant applications to trusts and foundations, but candidates with expertise in administration, operations, or marketing are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research suitable grant opportunities from trusts and foundations
  • Write and submit grant applications (initially <£10k, with scope for larger applications)
  • Maintain and update the charity’s Salesforce CRM records
  • Manage ZET’s social media accounts (collaborating with our LinkedIn lead)
  • Develop social media content with project partners
  • Write and distribute a regular newsletter
  • Maintain and update the ZET website
  • Gather monitoring and evaluation data from partners in Zimbabwe
  • Draft reports for major funders and write final reports for smaller grants
  • Assist in preparing board meeting papers and tracking actions
  • Support the ZET Ambassadors programme
  • Perform other tasks as needed, based on your skills and the organization’s needs

This role offers flexibility, initially part-time for 3 days per week, with potential for increased hours if desired. The ideal candidate should be committed to long-term involvement and excited about contributing to ZET’s growth.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • A skilled and creative writer with storytelling ability, excellent grammar, and strong attention to detail
  • Experienced or interested in fundraising, especially from trusts and foundations
  • Comfortable working remotely and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Familiar with the charity sector and passionate about social justice and international development
  • Proficient in digital tools such as social media, Salesforce CRM, and Microsoft Office

Why Join ZET?

At ZET, you’ll be part of a small, dedicated team where your voice is heard and your work makes a real difference. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in the charity sector while working flexibly and meaningfully.
