Job summary

Alterna Search has partnered with a dynamic, fast-growing investment fund to appoint a commercially minded Fund Controller in London. You will work with the lean founding team across fund finance, portfolio analysis, investor reporting, fundraising and strategic decision-making.

This is a rare opportunity for a recently qualified ACA or ACCA to gain hands-on exposure and accelerate a long-term career in the investment industry.

Qualifications

• Recently qualified ACA or ACCA from a Big Four or leading mid-tier audit background.
• Hands-on exposure to fund finance, investor reporting, and fundraising.
• Experience auditing funds, private equity, asset management, or investment vehicles is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Fund Financial Management: Assist with fund finance, reporting, and operational finance activities; manage relationships with service providers, auditors, and stakeholders; ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting; deliver investor reporting, presentations, and performance updates; respond to investor queries and support stakeholder engagement; assist fundraising activities, including due diligence and data room management.
• Portfolio Analytics, Valuations & Investment Support: Monitor portfolio performance, analysing financial and operational KPIs; produce investment analysis, valuations, and management reporting to support decision-making; track investment performance and provide insights to senior leadership; support portfolio reviews, valuation processes, and investment monitoring; contribute to strategic investment projects and initiatives.
• Process Improvement & Business Growth: Enhance financial processes, controls, and operational efficiency; support the adoption of AI, systems, and reporting tools; develop scalable processes and best practices to support growth.

This is a rare opportunity for a recently qualified accountant to gain hands‑on exposure to the inner workings of an investment fund, developing a unique blend of financial, commercial, and strategic experience that can accelerate a long‑term career in the investment industry. Working with the lean founding team, you will gain broad exposure across fund finance, portfolio analysis, investor reporting, fundraising, and strategic decision‑making. Responsibilities will include:

Fund Financial Management

• Assist with fund financial management, reporting, and operational finance activities.

We are seeking an outstanding recently qualified ACA or ACCA professional from a Big Four or leading mid‑tier audit background. You will combine strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset. Experience auditing funds, private equity, asset management, or investment vehicles is advantageous, but not essential.
