Job summary

Royal Navy is seeking an educator to deliver English and Maths Functional Skills to learners, in classrooms or in the field aboard ships as needed. You will monitor progress, tailor support for diverse abilities, and ensure Duty of Care for trainees.

You will become a subject-matter expert in Functional Skills English and Maths, supporting Apprenticeship Programmes and developing coaching and mentoring skills. A Level 3 teaching qualification or willingness to achieve is required.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and Maths minimum; higher qualifications preferred.
• Teaching qualification at Level 3 or willingness to work towards.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong understanding of English and Maths curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Ability to support learners with diverse needs, including additional learning support.
• Good IT skills and ability to deliver digital or remote learning.

Responsibilities

• Delivering English and Maths Functional Skills to the Royal Navy in the classroom or out in the field (ships, etc.).
• Monitor, identify and produce training documentation.
• Provide tailored support to learners with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs (e.g. SpLD).
• Responsible for the Duty of Care of trainees under your control.
• Develop coaching and mentoring skills to support learners; become a subject matter expert in Functional Skills English and Maths; support Apprenticeship Programmes.
• Support over 7,000 Royal Navy apprentices across the UK and contribute to improving learner outcomes and progression.

Job description

• Delivering English and Maths Functional Skills to the Royal Navy, this may be in the classroom or out in the field (on ships etc) or providing 1-2-1 support
• Monitoring, identifying and producing appropriate training documentation
• Provide tailored support to learners with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs (e.g. SpLD).
• Responsible for the Duty of Care of trainees under your control
• Developing coaching and mentoring skills to support learners
  You will become a subject matter expert in Functional skills English and Maths, and support learners on Apprenticeship Programmes for the Royal Navy.
• This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to advance their career in the Education sector. We will provide you with all the necessary Qualifications such as Level 3 - 5 in Education and Training. Full-time role - 37.5 hours a week HMS Collingwood/Portsmouth Dockyards Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

• Coaching and mentoring qualification
• Experience working with geographically dispersed learners
