Job summary

Nova Training in Clacton is seeking an English Functional Skills Tutor to join our centre on a part‑time, permanent basis, three days per week. You will deliver Functional Skills English up to Level 2, plan learner‑centred lessons and assess progress to help students reach their full potential on our study programmes.

You should have experience delivering Functional Skills English to Level 2, a relevant teaching qualification, and a real commitment to safeguarding and learner success within a

• Create conditions in the training centre to develop learners’ abilities, skills and confidence.

Hours: Part-Time, Permanent, 3 days per wk

Location: Clacton

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, pro rata (depending on experience & qualifications)

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Functional Skills Tutor based in our Clacton centre.

Nova Training is one of the UK’s most popular and experienced training providers operating for over 30 years in Study Programmes and Apprenticeships. Nova now operates its 14-24 provision from 13 locations located across the West Midlands and East of England.

Our programme delivery now includes; 16-18 study programmes, pre-apprenticeships, provision for learners with high needs, apprenticeships and 14-16 alternative provision.

Rated as Good by Ofsted in all areas of provision for offering a variety of education options to young people.

As a Functional Skills Tutor you will be supporting students to achieve their functional skills qualifications in both, Maths, English and ICT up to Level 2. We are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor who can motivate, engage and inspire our learners to achieve their full potential whilst on our programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of Functional Skills English, to Level 2.
• Plan individual learning to meet learner needs and ensure lesson plans are prepared.
• Achieve company KPI’s and Individual Performance Plan
• Plan embedded learning for groups and individuals
• Develop delivery in order to maximise progression opportunities for learners.
• Create conditions in the training centre(s) which will help to develop the abilities, skill and confidence of each learner.
• Regularly assess learners' work.

Requirements

• Experience of delivering Functional Skills English to Level 2
• A Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in 14-19 provision.
• Full Teaching Qualifications I.e. Cert Ed, C&G 7407, CTTLS, DTLLS
• Passion & desire to teach
• Willingness to undertake any relevant Teaching Qualifications necessary. Full, clean UK Driving License
