Job Description: Functional Skills Tutor in Middlesbrough

TP Tutors is currently working with Local Authorities and Schools in the Middlesbrough area, seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to support children with Maths and English skills.

We are looking for a passionate individual who supports children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, aiming to maximise their potential. Many students face various challenges, and our goal is to equip them with essential skills for future success.

This role may involve working outside mainstream settings.

Responsibilities include:

1. Planning, creating, and delivering engaging sessions.
2. Providing functional skills and emotional support to children.
3. Tracking progress, planning next steps, and offering constructive feedback.
4. Implementing behavior strategies to maintain focus.
5. Adopting a child-centered approach based on individual needs and interests.
6. Possessing professional teaching qualifications (preferred): Qualifies Teacher Status (QTS).
7. Having substantial teaching or tutoring experience.
8. Experience working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH, or other needs.
9. Having an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one (support available).
10. Providing professional references covering the last 24 months from your two most recent employers.
