Dovetail & Slate Ltd is seeking a Functional Skills English Tutor for a temporary contract in Yorkshire and the Humber. You will plan and deliver engaging sessions for post-16 learners, adapting to a range of abilities and helping learners build literacy and confidence to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities include planning schemes of work, preparing resources and assessments, carrying out initial assessments and tracking progress, marking work with timely feedback, and working with curriculum

Qualifikationen

• Level 3 English or equivalent
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English in FE
• A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work toward one
• Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
• Commitment to supporting learners from diverse backgrounds

About the Role

A further education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber is looking for a Functional Skills English Tutor to deliver Functional Skills English to post-16 learners. You'll plan and deliver engaging sessions, adapt your approach to a range of abilities, and help learners build the literacy and confidence they need to achieve.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering high-quality Functional Skills English sessions across a range of levels.
• Preparing schemes of work, resources and assessments.
• Carrying out initial assessment and tracking learner progress towards their goals.
• Marking work, giving timely feedback and preparing learners for their assessments.
• Working alongside curriculum colleagues and support staff to ensure inclusive practice.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• A Level 3 qualification in English, or equivalent subject knowledge
• Experience of delivering Functional Skills English, ideally within further education
• A recognised teaching qualification, or a genuine willingness to work toward one
• Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
• A commitment to supporting learners from a range of backgrounds

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience of working with post-16 or adult learners
• Familiarity with initial and diagnostic assessment tools
